Over 200 West Lincoln Attendance Center, Loyd Star Attendance Center and Brookhaven High School students recently traveled to Co-Lin’s Wesson campus for ACT WorkKeys testing. The WorkKeys assessment tests students in applied mathematics, reading for information, and locating information. The assessment system helps to compare a student’s skills to the skills real jobs require. This test provides the opportunity for students to earn one of four different ACT National Career Readiness Certificates (NCRC), which they can provide to potential employers to demonstrate their skill set. An increasing number of employers are now looking for candidates that have this career readiness certificate. Student test fees were funded by the Brookhaven and Lincoln County school districts.

The WorkKeys assessment is part of an initiative for Lincoln County to become a certified ACT Work Ready Community. This distinction recognizes the efforts that Brookhaven and Lincoln County have made to stimulate economic growth and build a more productive workforce.
