Copiah-Lincoln Community College Workforce Education recently partnered with Entergy- Mississippi, Inc. to provide fleet maintenance technicians with hands-on, customized training. The course featured a multi-meter certification and diesel troubleshooting class that was offered system-wide and was attended by representatives from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas.  The goal was to familiarize participants with new model multi-meters, which would assist them in providing better troubleshooting of the fleet trucks. These diagnostic skills will allow technicians to work more efficiently and lower company costs as technicians will be able to more accurately troubleshoot mechanical issues and correct them without outside assistance.

Workforce Education offered two sessions of the two-day course on the Wesson Campus with approximately twenty fleet mechanics participating and earning their certification.  Entergy Fleet Superintendent Dustin Case has been pleased with the results, as have the fleet technicians. “The classes were well received by our employees,” commented Case. “I’ve received calls complimenting the training and describing how it has helped on-the-job performance.”

Future plans include providing additional multi-meter and troubleshooting classes to Entergy fleet maintenance technicians again soon.
